Meihua Yishu: meaning through image and situation
Meihua Yishu, or Plum Blossom Numerology, is known for using a moment, number or observed image to form a hexagram. It emphasizes the relationship between the situation and the meaning drawn from it.
THE SHORT ANSWER
Its strength is compression: a small image can help a person name what is already happening. Its boundary is equally important—an image is a prompt, not proof of what will happen next.
BRING IT CLOSER
Knowledge is a map. Your question gives it a direction.
01
What it observes
The method uses numbers, time or an encountered image to derive an upper and lower trigram, then considers the dynamic relationship between them.
02
How to read it
Keep the question and the observed situation close together. The traditional concepts of body and use can help distinguish the situation itself from the part being asked about.
03
How Mingora uses it
Mingora turns the image into a short reflection: what is present, what is changing and which assumption deserves checking. It keeps the language exploratory.
KEY CONCEPTS
Image
A visible situation or symbol that becomes a doorway into a question.
Trigram
A three-line building block used to form a hexagram.
Body and use
A way to distinguish the situation from the focus of the question.
QUESTIONS TO CARRY
- What did I notice before I started interpreting?
- What part of the situation is stable, and what part is moving?
- Which assumption can I check with one conversation or experiment?
